China is the latest country to realise the full potential of cloud computing as they are now pushing a huge amount of money into it. Chinese cloud computing now accounts for 3% of the global cloud computing market share, which in monetary terms equates to an awful lot! Especially if you consider the fact that the market was said to be worth around $90 billion US dollars back in 2011 and it has continued to grow exponentially since.
It is expected that the Chinese cloud computing market will grow to around 117.4 billion CNY, which is equal to $18.6 billion US dollars, or £11.5 billion, by 2013.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the Internet Society of China predicts that the country will have reached 1 trillion CNY by 2015. A simply staggering amount of money!
The Chinese government is said to be encouraging the growth of cloud computing and the National Cloud Computing Industry Development Plan has recently been accepted and implemented by the State Council and is expected to launch within the coming months.
A wide range of cloud strategies will be covered by the cloud hosting market in China, including development, key-tasks, and a technology roadmap designed to support the cloud computing industry in China until 2015.
Meanwhile, it has further been reported that China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is helping with the push forward of cloud hosting. Additionally, China also passed the National Financial Support Program for Cloud Computing Demonstration Projects.
Within the next 3 years, China’s goal is to come up with around 10 cloud computing demonstration enterprises. In conjunction with this, China plans to achieve 10 million cloud computing users with the revenue hitting around 5 billion CNY.
With China fully backing cloud hosting, the market is sure to not only grow in China itself, but in other areas of the globe too.
The future of the cloud certainly looks bright!
